Funding for entrepreneurs with disabilities
The Victorian government has launched a funding program to assist entrepreneurs with disabilities, with up to $25,000 to put towards an approved business capability project or innovation.
The program is also eligible to not-for-profits, social enterprises and charitable organisations with less than 20 employees and are majority owned and operated by people with a disability.
The goal of this program is to increase the amount of Victorian businesses owned and operated by people with disabilities. It also aims to highlight the contribution that businesses owned by people with disabilities make to the Victorian economy.
With over 4 million Australians identifying as having a disability – and of those that are of working age, only 46% of them employed – a program such as this is a step in the right direction.
